Qui dit version majeure dit beaucoup de nouveautés. Et bien c'est le cas car Virtualbox virtualise enfin les systèmes 64 bits sur les OS Hôtes 64 bits.
Mais ce n'est pas tout, Sun rafraîchit l'interface du logiciel, en passant du toolkit QT3 à QT4 pour les versions Windows et Linux, quant à la version Mac OS X, Sun nous prévient qu'elle adopte un look Leopard.
Sun introduit également un notificateur de nouvelles versions au logiciel et ajoute le support des disques virtuels VHD de Microsoft.
