Maintenant que la fondation Mozilla a sorti la version 3.5 ainsi que deux correctifs la plupart du temps liés aux défauts de jeunesse du nouveau moteur javascript Tracemonkey, le développement se poursuit, toujours en quête d'améliorations de performances.
Et c'est ainsi que la 1ère alpha de la future version 3.6 aussi appelée Namoroka vient de voir le jour officiellement. La possible date de sortie de la version finale est prévue pour fin Octobre 2009.

Au menu de cette alpha1, quelques améliorations sous le capot, d'ailleurs voici le changelog :

Namoroka / Gecko 1.9.2 Alpha 1 introduces several new features:

* Compositor (Phase 1), which moves Gecko to using one native widget per top-level content document. See this blog post or bug 374980 for more details.
* A new focus model, described here and tracked in bug 178324
* The chromedir attribute has been replaced with a pseudoclass
* Several new CSS3 properties including background size and gradients for background images
* Speed improvements to the TraceMonkey JavaScript engine
* Startup and responsiveness improvements throughout the application
