Yahoo! Widget Engine 4.0
Aujourd'hui même, Yahoo! vient de sortir la nouvelle version de son gestionnaire de widgets à savoir Yahoo! Widget Engine 4.0 (build 168 ).
Les widgets sont de petits programmes qui servent à indiquer la météo, la bourse, les flux RSS etc. D'abord inventés il y a longtemps sur Mac, les widgets ont envahi nos systèmes d'exploitation, que ce soit avec MacOS X Tiger, Windows Vista ou encore Linux. Yahoo! Widget Engine était anciennement appelé Konfabulator avant que Yahoo! ne rachète la société productrice du logiciel et ne le rende gratuit. Il est disponible pour MacOS et Windows. Les nouveautés de Yahoo! Widget Engine sont assez techniques, mais en apparence on peut saluer l'apparition d'un Dock de widgets (à la manière MacOS X) ainsi que d'un widget "Yahoo! Widget Gallery" qui permet de partir à la recherche du widget désiré sans passer par son navigateur. Les performances du logiciel ont aussi été améliorées. Changelog [download] Télécharger Yahoo! Animations : * Implemented Resize Animation. * It is now possible to reuse an animation. Previously, once an animation was complete, it was useless. * Changed animations to always call any 'done' function you pass in even if the animation is run with runUntilDone (i.e. synchronously). Le grand Konfabulator est de retour ! Il ne faut pas oublier que certes la notion de widget existait déjà avant mais ce logiciel a tout de même été un précurseur du renouveau des widget et a plus ou moins été la source d'inspiration d'Apple pour son dashboard. Cette mise apporte peu de nouveautés mais le dock est gérée de manière assez intelligente et la mise à jour automatique des widget est juste ultime. Même sous Vista, Yahoo Widget bien supérieur. Un must have pour tous les amateurs du gadget design. PS : A peu de temps près, je faisais la news. Petit bug : les smileys [download] de la news ne sont pas interprétés sur le forum. |

Une version 4.0.1 est déjà disponible, pas encore de changelog, mais je pense qu'il corrige pas mal de problèmes de compatibilité de widgets.

Ça s'rait bien qu'ils supportent le netvibes universal widget api (uwa) ! (après une rapide recherche gogol j'ai vu que ça n'était pas le cas)
